Play four-player chess with bots.
Fourfront Bots is a free original browser game for anyone searching for four-player chess with bots and wanting to begin without an account, download, lobby, or opponent wait. You command the cyan army on a 14-by-14 cut-corner board while crimson, verdant, and gold respond as separate computer players. Press Play, select a cyan piece, and choose one of the highlighted legal destinations to begin a complete Quick FFA match.
How this four-player chess game works
Every army begins with a king, rook, bishop, knight, and four pawns. The pieces use recognizable chess movement. Rooks slide horizontally or vertically until blocked. Bishops slide diagonally. Knights jump in an L shape. Kings move one neighboring square. Pawns move one square toward the center of the board and capture diagonally. Friendly pieces block sliding movement, while the first enemy on a line may be captured. The board and the computer players use the same legal-move generator, so the bots cannot make impossible moves.
Quick FFA rules make the match finishable
This site clearly uses a shorter original multiplayer format rather than claiming tournament-standard four-player chess. Quick FFA has no check, checkmate, castling, en passant, two-square pawn opening, or promotion. Kings may enter danger and are removed by direct capture. Capturing a king eliminates the rest of that army, opening new lines for every survivor. The last remaining king wins. If 40 total turns pass first, captured kings decide the winner and remaining chess material breaks a tie. The limit keeps a mobile match focused instead of allowing an endless shuffle.
Three bots share one active battlefield
The three rivals act in order after your move. They consider legal captures, strongly prioritize an exposed king, value rooks above bishops and knights, and prefer useful central activity when no capture is available. They are independent armies, so crimson may attack gold or verdant may remove a threat before it reaches you. That free-for-all structure produces temporary alliances without diplomacy menus or scripted teams. A replay returns to the balanced opening, but a different first move can create a very different sequence of captures.
Designed for direct play on phone and desktop
The interactive board uses native buttons, visible type letters, an announced current turn, and a score rail showing captured kings and surviving pieces. On a 390-pixel phone screen the generated crystal-army scene becomes a compact banner while the board remains large enough for touch. On desktop the scene and board sit side by side. The visual presentation, rules expression, interface, and JavaScript logic are clean-room original work and do not copy a commercial chess site, branded board, account system, or piece art.
Fourfront Bots questions
You can play immediately without registration. The game is single-player against three bots rather than live online multiplayer. It uses familiar chess movement inside a clearly labeled short rule set. For project background, visit About.
